Treating our nature and our homeland with care is not a trend for us but a responsibility we carry forward across generations. In doing so, we want to preserve what has proven itself, stay open to new ideas and follow our own path into a sustainable future.

Breitlehengut

For a proud 200 years, the Breitlehengut farm in Untertauern has been run by us, the Lürzer family, with great passion and dedication. Our farm is far more than a place of work: it is our home, an important part of our family history and a place where people and animals both have their firm place.

The well-being of our animals comes first for us. With plenty of space, care and a mindful approach, we want to give them a good home. This responsibility has been handed down over generations – and we, too, want to carry it on with our own ideas and an open eye for new things.

The path to a sustainable & liveable future

Our
philosophy

In summer, our animals head out to the lush alpine meadows, where they are allowed to spend the warm season. Meanwhile, we devote ourselves to the care and cultivation of the Breitlehengut.

We are particularly proud that the beef we serve in our Heustadl restaurant comes from our own breeding. That way we know exactly where it comes from and can bring a piece of our own farm to our guests’ plates. For us, this means honest, regional enjoyment that we stand behind with full conviction.

Sustainability with responsibility

Our bond with nature shows not only in our farming but also in how we supply our houses with energy. With an efficient wood-chip heating system, a photovoltaic installation and electricity from our own hydropower, we consciously rely on renewable resources.

And we do not want to stop there. We continually ask ourselves where we can save energy, improve processes and act even more responsibly. In this way we combine the knowledge of earlier generations with modern technology and new ideas.

When you spend your holiday with us, you become part of this journey. Together we help to preserve the mountain world around Obertauern – so that it remains a place people love to arrive at for generations to come.

Powered by nature

Since the year 2000, the wood-chip heating plant at the Breitlehengut has been supplying our buildings with sustainable heat. The wood chips come from our own forest and provide a regional, resource-saving and environmentally friendly energy supply. Since 2005, the Breitlehenalm in Obertauern has also been heated with regional energy from wood. The wood chips come from the surrounding forests and create a natural, regional energy cycle.

Since our own hydropower plant at the Breitlehengut went into operation in 2022, we have been using the power of mountain water to generate electricity in an environmentally friendly way. This lets us produce part of our energy right on site – clean, sustainable and independent.

Our energy concept is complemented by modern photovoltaic systems at the Breitlehengut and at the Breitlehenalm. Since 2022 we have been generating our own solar power, making a further important contribution to climate protection.
